Breast Cancer Awareness & Movember Appeal

October is fairly well known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month; what isn't quite so well known is that November has now changed its name to Movember to raise awareness of, and funds for, the "silent killer" prostate cancer.

In 2010, the Bolt & Heeks Head Office staff decided to do a little fund-raising for both charities.  The company bought pink lapel pins for the Breast Cancer appeal and blue wrist bands for Movember which were then re-sold across the company.  Also, we had a "tuck shop" in George House and various members of staff brought in home-made cakes and biscuits to sell on.

Stuart Darwin, Site Manager, even grew a moustache in November - one of Movember's suggested ways to raise cash for the cause.

The Directors kindly matched the tuck shop profits so that in total we were able to raise £349.70 for both causes, a figure all the staff hope to substantially increase in 2011.  Watch this space!
